Dholera: Responding to a question regarding the development of Dholera SIR in Ahmedabad district, Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput said that under this project, the creation of Dholera SIR’s ‘Greenfield Industrial Smart City’ is in progress. So far, a total investment of ₹35,984.58 crore has been received across various sectors.
Minister Rajput stated that the 110 km
Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will be completed by June 2025, reducing travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to just 50 minutes.
He further added that under the Gujarat Special Investment Region Act, 2009, Dholera SIR was declared on May 22, 2009. It includes 22 villages and spans a total area of 920 sq. km. For the implementation of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, six draft town plans have been divided into 27 preliminary town plans, of which 11 are currently under process. Under this town plan, 50 percent of the original land is allocated for infrastructure development and social amenities, while the remaining 50 percent is returned to the original landholder as a ‘final plot.’
The Minister mentioned that the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway project is being executed by the National Highways Authority of India under the Bharatmala project in EPC mode. The implementation process is underway, and some works are expected to be completed by 2025.
Similarly, regarding the Dholera International Airport, the Airport Authority has announced a tender for site development, the runway, the taxiway, and other infrastructure. He also stated that work on the terminal building and ATC building is in progress.
