Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway: The Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will open for motorists by January 2024. The construction work of this 109 kilometer long expressway, which started in the year 2021, has been completed 30 percent by February 2023. Vehicles will run in one part of this expressway and high speed rapid rail will also run in one part.
The vehicles on the initial section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway have started plying since the month of February, the expressway is likely to be fully operational by the end of this year. After this expressway, another big expressway is going to start soon in the country. By January 2024, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will open for motorists. This 109 kilometer long expressway project was started in the year 2021 and by February 2023, 30 percent of its work has been completed.
This expressway will connect Ahmedabad to the greenfield smart city Dholera. This expressway is going to be a very special expressway in many respects. The full width of this expressway will be 120 meters. Vehicles will run on its 90 meter portion and high speed rapid rail will run in future under the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) on 30 meter portion.
Let us tell you that Dholera is being developed as the country's first greenfield smart city. All means of transport are being developed in this city. It will be connected to port, roads, metro and airport. Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway will play a very important role in this development.
This expressway will provide speedy connectivity between Ahmedabad and Dholera and will also accelerate industrial development. After its commencement, Dholera can be reached from Ahmedabad in just one hour. At present, it takes two to two and a half hours to cover this distance by other routes.
Explain that the total cost of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway project is Rs 4200 crore. About 20 lakh metric tonnes of solid waste and 25 lakh metric tonnes of ash from thermal power plants are being used in the Ahmedabad region to build the expressway.
The construction of this high speed multi modal corridor will not only reduce the distance between Ahmedabad and Dholera, but will also give a new impetus to the industrial development of Gujarat. Dholera SIR has now also become a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. That's why this city is attracting a lot of investors. It is expected that after the completion of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, it will also play an important role in the development of the country.
